Who We Are

Who We Are

A grassroots movement advancing self-determination and compassionate end-of-life choices in New Hampshire.

We’re grassroots.

We are New Hampshire people committed to thoughtful, humane approaches to death and dying. Many of us come to this work after sitting at bedsides, navigating serious illness, or walking through loss with those we love.

In forming this organization and effort, we listened to patients, families, clinicians, and neighbors across our entire state and across the political spectrum.  Through these conversations, we recognized that people want to be able to make informed, deeply personal decisions about their care and their lives.

They want care that reflects their values.
They want honesty and clarity.
They want meaningful choice.

We are dedicated to bringing Medical Aid in Dying (MAiD) to the Live Free or Die state as a carefully regulated form of patient-directed dying — an option for mentally capable adults with a terminal diagnosis to guide the timing of their death under specific legal safeguards.

But our work reaches further than any single policy.

We educate, convene, and advocate. We work to strengthen public understanding, encourage thoughtful planning, and advance compassionate end-of-life policy.

We are neighbors, volunteers, clinicians, caregivers, and family members. We welcome all of you who care about bringing clarity, compassion, and meaningful choice to end-of-life care in our state.

Why New Hampshire?

New Hampshire has always valued independence, civic engagement, and personal responsibility. “Live Free or Die” is more than a motto — it reflects a long tradition of local decision-making and respect for individual conscience.

We believe those values extend to how we approach the end of life.Man walking in field of flowers

In our small state, conversations matter. Neighbors talk with neighbors. Legislators are accessible. Community voices carry weight. That gives us both opportunity and responsibility: to listen carefully, to speak respectfully, and to shape policy that reflects compassion as well as freedom.

Our work is rooted in this place. We believe New Hampshire can lead with steadiness, humanity, and respect for differing views — while ensuring that individuals and families have meaningful choices at the end of life.
