Before You Lose Your Mind . . . Take Control and Start Planning!
More than half of older Americans die with Alzheimer’s or other form of dementia. Many get life-prolonging medical interventions they would have refused if they’d been able to speak for themselves.
An online workshop will address how you can plan now for the possibility of dementia. It’s for anyone concerned that such a disease may be in their future, and for people caring for a loved one with any form of dementia.
“Before You Lose Your Mind . . .Take Control and Start Planning” is Wednesday, Dec. 7, 6 – 7:30 p.m. via Zoom.
In a supportive and friendly environment, we’ll learn about specifying what we want – and don’t want – for medical treatments if we have dementia and aren’t able to make decisions for ourselves.
Honest conversation and planning helps our loved ones and health care providers understand our values and principles. We’ll offer sample documents and real-life scenarios raising essential questions of life and death. Health care practitioners and an elder law attorney are among the people who will be on hand to guide discussion and answer questions.
A recording will be made available to people who register and are unable to attend.
This workshop is hosted by the NH Alliance for End of Life Options in collaboration with the Alzheimer’s Association and Gibson Center. The workshop is part of the series, “Talking About Death Won’t Kill You.” It is free, with donations gratefully accepted.
